Perch - Perca fluviatilis
Perch are greenish with red pelvic, anal and caudal fins. They have five to nine dark vertical bars on their sides.
Still and moving freshwater habitats.
All year round.
They are a predatory species that will take small fish as well as worms and small insects.
Widespread and common in Britain.
Common in Leicestershire and Rutland. Found in larger rivers (including the western Sence, Soar, Wreake), also canals (notably the Grand Union) and lakes.
