Populicerus nitidissimus

    Length 5-6 mm. It may not be possible to identify this species with certainty from photographs, as it closely resembles some species often placed in the genus Populiceras; however the colouring of I. nitidissimus does appear to be somewhat different.


    It occurs on Poplars, particularly the varieties of Populus nigra.

    When to see it

    Adult: June to October.

    A species whose range in the UK is not currently well known.

    Status in Leicestershire and Rutland is not known possibly due to difficulty of identification.
