Red Currant Aphid - Cryptomyzus ribis
The aphid Cryptomyzus ribis causes galls on the leaves of Currant secies (Ribes sp.). The galls take the form of raised thickened patches on the upper surface of leaves, these may be yellowish or red, the leaf often curls downwards. Hairy depressions below with aphids.

The Currant Blister Aphid host alternates between Currant (Ribes sp.) and Woundworts (Stachys sp.).
Widespread in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
