Rough Strawberry-root Weevil - Otiorhynchus rugosostriatus
A fairly large brown weevil with coarsely punctate elytra.
Often in cultivated areas where strawberries are present.
Peak in June and July.
The larvae do most damage, by eating the roots of cultivated Strawberry.
It has a sparse, but widespread distribution across the southern half of the UK.
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 11 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
