Rugilus orbiculatus


    Length about 5 mm. This is a dark brown rove beetle with yellow/orange legs.

    Found in dung heaps, grass cuttings, flood refuse etc.

    Although widespread in Britain this species seems to be most frequently recorded in central and eastern England.

    Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 64 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
