    Usually found on carcasses of animals or birds, occasionally on dung.

    Peak time is May to August.

    UK Status

    Widespread but occasional in Britain – possibly under recorded.

    VC55 Status

    Uncommon or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were only 4 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015 recorded between the 1800s and1992.
