Stethomostus fuliginosus
A fairly small (5 mm) blackish sawfly with rather grey translucent looking wings.
Fields and flower meadows where Ranunculus species are present and often favours fairly damp locations.
May to July.
Larvae feed on Ranunculus.
Poorly recorded with most records coming from the southern half of Britain where it is probably fairly frequent.
Uncommon or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland where the Sapcote record of 10th June 2014 is the first for VC55.
