Variable Brittlegill - Russula versicolor
Description
Cap 2-6cm, convex and slow to expand. Colour variable, usually a mix of red-violet to purple, often with ochre-yellow or olive-green patches.

Woodlands with a wide range of host trees, both broad-leaved and conifers.

Autumn

Frequent and widespread.
VC55 Status
Occasional, but may be under-recorded as there are several other Russula species that look almost identical.
