Violet Bramble Rust - Phragmidium violaceum
Phragmidium violaceum causes leaf rust on Bramble (Rubus fruticosus aggregate). This can take the form of reddish purple blotches, but these can be joined together to form larger blotches. It should be noted that there is a very similar species Phragmidium bulboum.
On bramble leaves.
Late summer and autumn.
Widespread and fairly common in Britain.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
