Wood Blewit - Lepista nuda
Cap 6 to 12 cm across, flattened-convex becoming depressed and wavy, bluish lilac at first then more brownish. Gills lilac. A good edible fungus but must be well-cooked as it causes severe indigestion if eaten raw or under-cooked. Spore print pale pink.
Usually with oak, but also found in mixed woodlands and beside hedgerows.
Found in autumn and early winter
Fairly common and widespread in Britain
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
