Woolly Milkcap - Lactarius torminosus
Description
Cap 4-12cm, convex with a strongly inrolled margin becoming flattened and depressed at the centre, with a slightly to felty-hairy surface and a strongly bearded margin. Colour pale to deep flesh-pink with darker concentric zones.
Similar Species
The pink colours and the concentric rings are variable and if weak can lead to confusion with L. pubescens.

Habitat
Woodlands, always with birch.
When to see it
August to November.
UK Status
Widespread but never really common in Britain.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
