White-pinion Spotted - Lomographa bimaculata
Wingspan 22 to 26 mm. Unmistakable white moth with two dark spots on the leading edge of each forewing.
Occupying mainly wooded habitats.
There is one generation, flying in May and June, when it can be attracted to light.
The larvae feed on Hawthorn and Blackthorn.
Distributed fairly commonly in southern Britain, north to the Midlands, locally in northern England and in southern Ireland. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as common.
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = A (common and resident).
