Anomoia purmunda
Length 4.5 mm. The wing markings are very characteristic and distinctive. The eyes are green with two transverse red bands. Wings are carried in a front facing posture. perhaps as an attempt to look bigger or fiercer than it really is.
Females are attracted to Hawthorn bushes with berries in order to lay their eggs.
July to October.
Larvae feed in Hawthorn fruits.
Fairly frequent in the southern half of Britain at least.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
