About 4 mm in length it is very dark, almost black with orange tarsi and orange-yellow scales at the side of the pronotum which are diagnostic..

Summer.
Locally common in southern England, scarce further north.
Infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland which are on the northern edge of its range.
