Dasineura tiliae
The galls caused by the gall midge Dasineura tiliae occur on the leaves of some species of Lime and take the form of a wide upward roll on the edge of mature leaves. The affected leaves are often reddish or purplish.
Dasineura thomasiana causes leaves to crinkle and distort, with thickened veins; larvae inside are white at first.
Where the host species of Lime occur.
Galls can be seen when Lime is in leaf.
Single generation of yellowish red larvae.
It seems to be widespread in Britain but is not well recorded.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
