Puccinia hysterium

Description

The rust fungus Puccinia hysterium galls Goat's-beard (Tragopogon pratensis) and may affect most of the plant which can become covered with yellow aecia.  There is no host-plant alternation, and no uredinia are produced

Habitat

This rust may be encountered wherever the host species (Goat's-beard) occurs.

When to see it

Late spring and summer.

UK Status

Seems to be widespread in England, though perhaps rather local.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
