Mocydia crocea
One of the member of a small genus, requiring careful separation from the two Mocydiopsis species. With care it can be identified to species based on cell patterns (see British Bugs website for details). The wing tip is also distinctly pointed.
Can be identified by external features at 5-10X magnification.
This species can be identified from good quality photographs with care but there are similar species that it could be confused with.
Found amongst grass in many habitats, from woodlands to hay meadows. The host plants are various tall grasses.
Adult: all year round.
Widespread and fairly frequent in England and Wales.
Thought to be fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
