This ichneumon is entirely orange in colour apart from the dark head and the darkened antennal tips. It has large eyes and ocelli to aid it in its nocturnal lifestyle. It sometimes turns up in light traps.
The species is nocturnal and is a parasitoid of sawfly/moth caterpillars.
Believed to be widespread but little recorded.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
