Frosty Webcap - Cortinarius hemitrichus
The cap is 2 to 4.5 cm usually brown when young but greying with age. The surface is soon silky and the margin almost white from floccose, white fibrils which are easily washed off by rain.
Well wooded areas, favouring Birch.
Widespread and fairly frequent in England and Wales.
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
