The larvae of the gall wasp Neuroterus politus produce galls on Oak (Quercus) species - affecting either the buds at the tip of previous year’s shoots or the catkins.

Galls may be encountered wherever the host species (Oak) occurs.
Summer and early autumn.
Thought to be quite common in Britain, but not well recorded.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
