Ophion scutellaris


    Length 14 to 20 mm. An orangey brown Ichneumon similar to others in the group such as O. obscuratus , but with a very thin hind femur and not showing the typical yellow markings of that species.

    Hedgerows and well vegetated areas.

    When to see it

    March to September.

    Life History

    Adults and larvae feed on caterpillars.

    The scattered records for this species are mostly from England.

    Not well recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
