Rhyacophila dorsalis

Description

Forewing 10 to 14 mm. The forewing is mottled grey and yellow-brown but very variable in both colour and patterning, and showing a distinct dark diamond shape where the wings meet over the body when at rest.

Stony flowing water ranging from small streams to larger rivers.

When to see it

May to October in most areas.

Widespread and fairly common in Britain.
