Cryptocephalus moraei
A distinctively marked black beetle with four patches on the elytra which vary in colour from yellow to deep orange. There is one patch on the side and one at the rear of each elytron.
Usually found on St John's-wort.
Spring and summer.
Associated with St John's-wort.
Fairly widespread south of The Wash but scarcer further north.
Infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were only 8 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
