Leccinum cyaneobasileucum

Description

Cap to 15cm across, brown and felt-like. Stipe to 10cm, cylindrical but tapering slightly, pale grey/brown and covered in tiny brown scales. The cap flesh colours pale pink when cut but the stipe base discolours blue, distinguishing it from the very similar Brown Birch Bolete.

Similar Species

Very similar to the Brown Birch Bolete but separated by the base of the stipe staining blue when cut.
