Birch Woodwart - Annulohypoxylon multiforme
This fungus produces hard, black warty cushion like growths on dead branches with bark.
On dead wood of deciduous trees. It favours Birch but can be found on dead wood of other deciduous trees.
It appears all year round.
Fairly common in Britain.
Common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
