The precursor website to NatureSpot was set up in 2007 but did not adopt the title until 2009. The first website did not have a recording form and was just a species gazeteer. Development to incorporate a recording form, maps etc. so that it was recognisable as what we now think of NatureSpot happened in late 2010 and first record submitted was in December 2010.  2020 therefore represents the 10th anniversary of NatureSpot as it now is. We will be continuing to expand our listing of Wild Places in Leicestershire and Rutland. We have already added many new sites in the past year and will be continuing to expand our coverage in 2020. In addition, we also have a new venture planned for the coming year which will allow you to participate and learn face to face from experts (as well as us learning from you!). We can't announce the details quite yet but stay tuned over the next few weeks!
